Research summary | The objective of this research is to strengthen understanding of how to increase participation and social inclusion in Jurisdictional Approaches to sustainable land and forest management, based on lessons from a selection of sites in Indonesia. The research will use mixed methods to evaluate dynamics of representation and influence within the multistakeholder coordinating forums of jurisdictional initiatives; community and stakeholder consultation on policy and planning processes supported by these initiatives; and patterns of inclusion/exclusion in access to economic opportunities such as price premiums, market access and technical support for more productive and climate smart agro-commodity production facilitated by jurisdictional initiatives. The project will explore the ways in which both the design of Jurisdictional Approaches and broader patterns of social inequality in implementation sites shape, enable and constrain social inclusion within Jurisdictional Approaches. The project will contribute to stronger Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion frameworks and indicators in Jurisdictional Approaches and wider policy engagement and knowledge regarding their importance. |
