Research summary | This research aims to examine impacts of climate change on communities. Using transdisplinary approaches, the project will reveal how climate change already impacts grassroots communities and rural livelihood shaped by various social variables including culture, socio-agroecological and political economy dimensions at grassroot levels. It further seeks to (1) identify, facilitate and catalyse adaptation measures and collective actions among at risk communities and (2) to understand how Non-Government Organisations, local governments and universities co-develop adaptation and transformation agenda at the grassroots levels in rural settings. Participatory action research is the primary approach or ways of working of this entire research activity to catalysing changes toward climate resilience policies and actions based on a rich and robust understanding of climate-related risks at the grassroots communities and rural people’s livelihoods by considering the diversity of socio-ecological contexts. The research’s objective and designed approach will contribute to the agreed Government of Indonesia and Government of Australia’s priorities in Climate Change Resilience with sub-themes of future-proofing communities and practice areas focusing on socio-ecology resilience and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion perspectives. |
