Research and Technology
- The Deputy of Development Policy of BRIN, Intan Perwitasari, emphasised the importance of international cooperation for Indonesia in the development capacity of human resources and technology transfer with various countries.
Research and Funding
- LPDP scholarship requirements were updated, including the search period for the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) Unconditional has been reduced to 18 months, down from 24 months, aligning with the improved COVID-19 situation in Indonesia and the normalisation of activities on overseas campuses.
Research and Innovation
- In 2023, BRIN significantly increased its globally recognized publications to 4,633, compared to the previous year’s 3,252, highlighting the crucial role of publications as a scientific validation and emphasising BRIN’s pivotal position in strengthening global collaborations and fostering Indonesia’s research and innovation ecosystem.
- According to the Global Innovation Index 2023, Indonesia’s indicator for collaboration between universities and industries in research and development has risen to the fifth rank in the world. Meanwhile, based on the INSEAD report, Indonesia gained the highest increase in talent competitiveness in Asia and the second-highest in the world over the last five years.
Environment and Climate Change (ECC)
- BRIN has conducted a total of 2,388 research projects in 2023, with 218 titles in the food sector and 220 titles in the energy sector. The research covers sustainable environmental initiatives, health sovereignty, and diverse aspects of economics and societal challenges.
- The Centre for Limnology and Water Resources Research (PRLSDA) of BRIN researched to continuously estimate the sedimentation of nitrogen and other sediments into Jakarta Bay over an extended period.
- The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries actively strives to transform the North Coast of Java into a blue economy-based maritime region.
