Call for Expression of Interest
Australia-Indonesia Research Collaboration Grants 2023
During the Inception Phase in the first half of 2023, KONEKSI will launch a grant program, called KONEKSI PILOT . The Government of Australia and Government of Indonesia have jointly agreed on the priority theme of Environment and Climate Change (ECC) and will focus on policy and innovation relevant research related to:
- climate change mitigation
- climate change adaptation, and
- climate change resilience.
The focus on Environment and Climate Change, particularly in relation to climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience, reflects the relevant cooperation agreements and the evolving bilateral relationship between Australia and Indonesia. Key to addressing climate challenges for both nations will be considerations of equity, diversity, and inclusion with the goal of enabling policy and innovation cycles to place disadvantaged and vulnerable groups at the centre of climate-related solutions. Noting the shared challenges of dispersed and diverse populations, legacy infrastructure and systems, and geographic and climate characteristics between Australia and Indonesia, this pilot phase of the program seeks to support and develop cooperative approaches, solutions and capabilities which respond to these needs.
Notable features of KONEKSI Pilot:
- Grant proposals will require collaboration between at least one Indonesian and at least one Australian partner. Either an Australian or Indonesian partner can submit an application, and the partner entity/ies will be subcontracted by the lead.
- There will be a requirement to demonstrate the proposed partnership has a legacy of working together, and also demonstrate evidence of any existing or past relationships between the Australian and Indonesian participant organisations.
- Proposals from consortiums are welcome. Organisations and consortiums can make multiple submissions. One partner should be designated as the lead.
- The total funding release for the Pilot Call for Proposals is projected to be 💲2.5 million, for projects running up to 12 months with possible extension of 6 months.
- Expressions of Interest can be in either Indonesian or English. However, grant proposals must be submitted in English.
