Research summary | This project will support inclusive and innovative blue carbon initiatives. Using qualitative methodology, the project will document and understand the expertise of Indigenous Papuan women and their adaptation strategies in Papua’s mangroves, the main outcomes of this research will be (1) new knowledge about diverse models of climate change adaptation strategies that are based on Indigenous Knowledge, gender inclusive and contribute to gender equality and policy innovation; (2) increased awareness of traditional knowledge that can help maintain the ecological function of mangrove forest including its impact on carbon supply; (3) enhanced women’s roles in community knowledge partnerships; (4) improved Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion research capabilities of early career researchers and students; and (5) enhanced collaboration between researchers in Australia and Indonesia |
