The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of the Government of Australia
DFAT promotes and protects Australia’s international interests to support security and prosperity. DFAT works with international partners and other countries to tackle global challenges, increase trade and investment opportunities, protect international rules, keep the region stable and help Australians overseas. DFAT manages Australia’s international presence – a network of over 120 embassies, high commissions, consulates-general and representative offices across five continents–and has over 6,000 staff located in Australia and overseas.
As ‘Executing Agency’ (with BAPPENAS), DFAT provides overall policy and strategic direction to KONEKSI.
Ministry of National Development Planning/The National Planning Agency (Kementerian PPN/Bappenas)
The Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) through Presidential Decree No. 65/2015 and supplemented by the Presidential Decree No. 81/2021 acts as a guide and overseer for all state institutions and ministries in carrying out national development tasks and ensuring structured, strategic and comprehensive activities and planning across all sectors. Bappenas is an Indonesian central government institution which is responsible for formulating national development planning and budgeting (annual, five-years, and long term). BAPPENAS has also a responsibility to coordinate international development (bilateral, unilateral and multilateral) cooperation.
Bappenas is both an ‘Executing Agency’ for KONEKSI (jointly with DFAT) and an ‘Implementing Agency’. In these roles, Bappenas provides overall policy and strategic direction to KONEKSI and is directly involved in implementation of activities.
The National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN)
BRIN was established by President Joko Widodo through Presidential Regulation Number 78 of 2021 concerning the National Agency for Research and Innovation. Under this Presidential Regulation, BRIN is responsible for conducting integrated research, development, studies, application, as well as inventions and innovation.
As one of three Government of Indonesia ‘Implementing Agencies’, BRIN is directly involved in implementation of KONEKSI activities.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MoECRT)
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is a government ministry of the Indonesian government responsible for education, cultural, research, and technology affairs.
As one of three Government of Indonesia ‘Implementing Agencies’, MoECRT is directly involved in implementation of KONEKSI activities.
