Research summary | This project will develop an approach to mapping seaweed production areas using satellite imagery to monitor sea use change. Using mixed methods, this project will (1) develop computer vision and machine-learning tools for analysis of satellite imagery to monitor seaweed production; (2) undertake ‘ground-truthing’ of production estimates using oceanographic measurements and farm production diaries in three case study locations (in South Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara and Maluku); and (3) undertake qualitative social research to explore community perceptions of climate variability and their resilience strategies to identify interventions. |
