Research summary | This project connects social forestry policy, food security and climate adaptation to support social inclusion. The project will focus on areas with high stunting capacities to investigate how social forestry can address critical adaptation/food security issues faced by marginal groups in social forestry areas. The project will use mixed methods to combine climate vulnerability, livelihood, and food security analysis to map the drivers of insecurity. The project will undertake and deliver policy analysis of (1) the drivers of livelihood insecurity, the sources of community resilience, and the impact of existing interventions on community wellbeing in social forestry areas; (2) how social forestry policy responses can support climate change adaptation and food security. The project will enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities and contribute to social inclusion by promoting indigenous empowerment and addressing gender-based discrimination and inequalities that affect access to resources and decision-making power. |
