Research summary | The research aims to design and develop a Disease Reporting and Monitoring System (DRMS) to help prevent the spread of shrimp diseases. DRMS will be an open collaborative platform, allowing shrimp farmers and stakeholders within the aquaculture ecosystem to share real-time data, report, and monitor potential diseases in their farming environments. This project will deploy an Action Design Research methodology and adopt an inclusive system design approach to ensure that the DRMS is equally engaging and useful for all users regardless of gender or social background. The main output of the current research involves technology development, which is the prototype of DRMS. To that end, this research strives to contribute to (1) digitally transform the aquaculture sector on shrimp disease prevention through the DRMS platform; (2) empowering women and small-scale shrimp farmers through technology recommendation, (3) equip shrimp farmers on knowledge to further prevent the diseases outbreak. |
