Research summary | This project focuses on children and young people to investigate current Government of Indonesia policies and practices that generate climate injustices and explore strategies to integrate climate justice into policy and practice. Through mixed method approaches, the project will identify the underlying causes of climate injustices by: (1) examining and assessing current policies and practices in mitigation, adaptation, and disaster risk reduction and how these might have unintended negative effects on vulnerable communities, particularly children and youths; (2) Understanding the vulnerabilities and injustices experienced by children and young people; and (3) Understanding the opportunities and challenges in integrating a climate justice perspectives and transformative approaches into current policies and practices. The project promotes child and youth centred methodologies to inform the improvement of policy for climate justice while also contributing to innovations for measuring societal exposure, sensitivity, and ability to adapt to the impact of climate change using the social vulnerability index and measuring the integration of climate justice into policies and practices using the climate justice index. |
