Research summary | This project highlights vulnerable community knowledge to identify climate-related challenges and develop strategies to strengthen resilience. Through participatory action research, the project offers three key innovations: (1) Deep community engagement, facilitated through co-design processes at every level of the research program. (2) Demonstration of the intersectional disadvantages accrued through climate change (for example, acknowledging that poverty impacts nutrition, and that older people can also be women living with disabilities) through a constant iterative comparison approach; and (3). Development and consolidation of an interdisciplinary, international team bringing together expertise in climate resilience, environmental governance, human rights, social inclusion, gender, disability, ageing, law and policy. This project seeks to develop a Model of Future-proofing for Climate Resilience by Engaging Communities. This project aims to build strong and enduring partnerships that will promote climate resilience for key vulnerable groups: people with disabilities, diverse women, and older people (and people who live at the nexus of these), in Lombok, Makassar and Sumbawa. |
