Research summary | Farmland protection policy in Indonesia hasn’t been effective to address urbanisation pressure, which is potentially impacting regional food security. This study aims to explore how an inclusive approach can improve data collection, quality, management and governance for farmland protection in Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. Participatory methods will be applied to update existing parcel level digital maps needed for farmland protection and improve the data captured in them. This will address the spatial data management issues, empower local communities and create more accessible and accurate maps in a cost effective manner. The result of this study will integrate participatory mapping into policy making and will advance the existing knowledge on food-sensitive urban and regional planning. |
