KONEKSI is a collaborative initiative in the knowledge and innovation sector that supports partnerships between Australian and Indonesian organisations for inclusive and sustainable policy and technology. Supported by the Governments of Australia and Indonesia, the Program promotes equitable knowledge partnerships and leveraging local knowledge to address socio-economic challenges. What are the goal and purpose of KONEKSI?
KONEKSI’s goal is to achieve an enduring relationship between Indonesia and Australia that advances mutual interest and supports Indonesia’s inclusive and sustainable development. The purpose of the program is to increase the use of knowledge-based solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies.
KONEKSI supports multi-disciplinary research partnerships to advance policy and practice solutions. It will bring people together to jointly identify problems and solutions, create partnerships and extend networks. It will support both the knowledge to policy (K2P) cycle and the knowledge to innovation (K2I) cycle, in a complementary and synergistic way.
What results does KONEKSI aim to achieve?
- Australian and Indonesian organisations have increased collaboration and mutual understanding through knowledge partnerships; and
- Innovative solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies are generated by knowledge partnerships.
How does KONEKSI work?
KONEKSI’s overall approach is to act as a catalyst for change. KONEKSI’s work focuses on facilitating and strengthening organisational partnerships, building partners’ capacities including in relation to Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), and supporting the enabling environment and the Indonesian knowledge and innovation ecosystem to make best use of knowledge partnerships.
Key principles of KONEKSI are mutual interest and application, transparency and accountability, GEDSI-responsive, problem and solution driven, and collaborative fit-for purpose.
What does KONEKSI do?
- Collaborative research grants, focused on funding grants under predetermined categories of:
- New partnerships to conduct exploratory research and just-in-time studies,
- Existing partnerships to develop proof of concept, prototypes, and follow-up research, and
- Well-established partnerships that demonstrate commitment to high research standards and wide-spread application.
- Technical assistance, aiming to address capacity gaps and systemic constraints for production and dissemination of knowledge.
- Knowledge dissemination and management, ensuring that knowledge produced across KONEKSI is timely and effectively delivered to targeted knowledge users; and
- Networking and coalition building, focusing on promoting and connecting services and solutions from KONEKSI partners to external stakeholders who share similar interests.
